Don’t you wish women’s wear would more often come with practical details, like pockets? I know I’m not alone in thinking that I’d like to sometimes go out without having to carry a handbag or purse just for those small items like cash, keys, credit cards and lipstick. Men have it easier in that department, for sure. When traveling in warm weather, in particular, and I’m going someplace where a dress is a good choice, I’d love the chance to feel free but still have all my little essentials with me. That’s where the SCOTTeVEST Debbie Dress comes into the picture. Someone had finally come up with an idea to make a dress that has not one, not two, but seven pockets in all!

The pockets are meant to hold things that you’d normally carry in your purse, like your phone, keys, money, and even a camera if you’re traveling. You’d think that carrying this much stuff in all those pockets would weigh the dress down and make you look weird and lumpy, but the structure of the dress is designed to avoid this. It is comfortable to wear and does not need ironing, so that’s makes it even better as a travel dress.

We’ll go into further details below but if you’d like to purchase this dress, you can do so via Amazon.

Features of the SCOTTeVEST Debbie Dress

Left hand visible pocket on the front and invisible pocket on the side

  • Being made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex, the dress is breathable and has enough stretch to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
  •

  • It is wrinkle-free so you can fold it or roll it to pack and throw it into a washer and dryer without worrying about having to iron it.
  •

One hidden zippered pocket on the left hand side

  • It’s design makes it good for summer, but it also looks good when you throw on a cardigan or jacket for cooler weather. It works as a casual day out dress for sightseeing, but you can dress it up with jewelry to work for a casual evening dinner as well. When you’re not traveling, wear it to work as well.
  •

  • All the inbuilt pockets are cleverly designed to not make you look lumpy or add bulk to your frame even when fully loaded. The weight management system doesn’t weigh you down or stretch the fabric.
  •

One visible pocket on the front right hand side

  • There are 7 pockets in all, so there’s a place for your phone, wallet, camera, keys, sunglasses, lip gloss, extra camera lenses, a USB stick, and much more.
  •

  • The left side of the dress has 3 pockets – two open pockets right below the waistband and one zipped pocket just below those. Only the smaller open pocket has a visible seam as part of the design, while the other two are hidden.
  •

One hidden zippered pocket in the waist band at the back

  • The right side of the dress has three pockets to mirror the ones on the left side.
  •

  • The back of the waistband has a hidden zippered pocket that is perfectly sized for credit cards.
  •

  • The dress falls just above the knee. If you prefer something longer, try the Deborah Dress instead.
  •

    Pros

  • It is very practical and versatile to wear as a travel dress or to work and a casual dinner.
  •

  • It is comfortable and figure flattering.
  •

  • It washes well.
  •

    Cons

  • You may find that certain items won’t feel right in certain pockets. For example,
placing a phone in the lower zipped pocket can weigh that side down, and when the material swings, can hit against your leg. It is a better pocket for a few bills or credit cards.
  •

  • Because it is cotton spandex, if you hand wash it while on the road, it may not dry overnight.
  •

  • Although it is nice to have lots of pockets in your dress, it is not meant for carrying large or heavy items. That’s where a travel vest with even more pockets comes in. Our list of good travel vests even includes options that help you take a few extra things that don’t fit in your carry on for flights!
